Daredevil Season 3 Is Worth Your Time

I just finished Daredevil Season 3 and it is a captivating and impressive mark on serial television. The Netflix series that made it’s mark with fantastic cinematography and thrilling fight scenes once again draws us in.

If you are looking for a show to binge watch this weekend, Daredevil Season 3 is the show to watch. Every episode, minus the Karen Page background episode, was amazing. Sorry Karen fans, I just have no vested interest as her druggie past with her family.

Overall though the series has been spot on and well worth your time.

The new series comes with some sad news, Luke Cage Season 3 was cancelled but I’m a believer that we may get the Heroes For Hire series as a replacement, which I am good with. We will see.

Marvel’s Iron Fist gets the ax from Netflix

If you were hoping for more Iron Fist on Netflix after the season two premiere then I am sorry to say that your hopes were destroyed when Netflix cancelled the series after two seasons. Audiences never really took off with the character and few critics gave a favorable view of the series.

When Danny Rand was 10-years old, he survived a mysterious plane crash that claimed the lives of his extremely wealthy parents. Rescued by warrior monks, Danny grew up in the of city of K’un-Lun, where he endured harsh conditions, but also trained to be a fierce warrior. Years later, Danny returns home to New York, where he wants to reconnect with his past and take his rightful place at his family’s company, which is being run by his father’s former business partner. Danny hopes to restore his family legacy by defeating the people who threaten it.

“Marvel’s Iron Fist will not return for a third season on Netflix,” Netflix and Marvel said in a press release. “Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is proud of the series and grateful for all of the hard work from our incredible cast, crew and showrunners. We’re thankful to the fans who have watched these two seasons, and for the partnership we’ve shared on this series. While the series on Netflix has ended, the immortal Iron Fist will live on.”

Thus we have not seen the last of Danny Rand as the character will likely continue to appear on the other Defenders related series. Many fans hope that this news means more team ups with fan favorite Luke Cage and his ‘Heroes for Hire’ story line that is expected in season 3 of his series.

Outlander Season 4 Title Sequence Released

It is time to head to Colonial America when Outlander Returns next month.

outlander season 4 cabin.PNG

Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) will find a new home in the United States when the Starz time-travel romance returns Nov. 4. And the opening title sequence, unveiled at New York Comic-Con Saturday, offers glimpses of what that life looks like — from a log cabin to a Colonial mansion, deer, Native Americans, and Claire’s real-life brush with a slave.

The season four opener will bring forth darker tones for some characters as they begin their new life on the other side of the pond. Of course after their time in the Bahamas, this some be a piece of cake.

Novelist Diana Gabaldon, who authored the series on which the show is based, introduced the footage to the audience and panel that included Moore and fellow executive producer Maril Davis, as well as cast members Balfe, Heughan, Sophie Skelton and Richard Rankin.

The story of Outlander began as an English combat nurse from 1945 is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743. Her adventures 200 years in the past carry her from battlefields in Scotland to Royal Court in France, down to the Caribbean Sea and now to the Colonial America in 1766 just ten years prior to the American Revolution.  Outlander Season 4 premieres November 4th on Starz.

‘Old Murphy’ Has Been Out Of The Spotlight For Too Long

Back in the late ’80s and into the ’90s there was one person that Republicans hated to hear about. It wasn’t a politician and it wasn’t an actual person, it was the fictionalized character Murphy Brown. From taking on Vice President Dan Quayle to going through 93 different secretaries over the first ten seasons, Murphy Brown became an iconic figure.

In 1992 everyone was watching Bergen when, in late August, she won an Emmy for outstanding lead actress in a comedy series.

“I’d like to thank the vice president,” she opened her acceptance speech, to rapturous applause. She closed by thanking the writers for “not only writing these great words, but spelling them correctly.” It was another dig at Quayle, who over the summer had misspelled the word “potato” at an event at a school. (Quayle said the word was misspelled on the teacher cue card from which he was reading.)

Skip ahead to 2018 and Murphy Brown returns. It was the 2016 election on Donald Trump that charged the cast and crew of the hit show to make a come back. The world was needing Murphy Brown.

The first episode comes out swinging for the fences and does not disappoint. Murphy, now retired, has become bored with marching in protests and wants to cover them again. She pulls strings and lands a prime morning slot on CNC (Cable News Channel) and hires her old staff back. Of course there is a position open for her secretary and one Mrs. Hilary Clinton (only one ‘L’) applies for the job. One of her talents is dealing with Emails.

The show lands every line and the cast is fantastic. A big thumbs up for Murphy Brown and may they have a glorious season!

The Good Place Returns To Earth In The Hour Long Season Premiere

The Good Place returned on Thursday and viewers were quickly reminded why this sitcom based on the afterlife is so damn good.

In the first season we discover The Good Place is a town where those who have been good throughout their lives go once they have passed away. Michael (Danson) is the architect who oversees the town. Eleanor (Bell) arrives at the Good Place and realizes she doesn’t deserve to be there. With the help of Chidi (Harper), Eleanor tries to right her wrongs seeking to finally earn her spot in the Good Place.

What we discover is that The Good Place is really The Bad Place and Eleanor and friends have been trapped inside of a experiment to discover new ways to torment those sent to The Bad Place. After the events of Season Two we follow Eleanor as she returns to Earth for one more chance to prove she deserves a second chance to get into the real Good Place.

In the hour long season three premiere Michael prevents the deaths of Eleanor, Chidi, Tahani and Jason, hoping a second chance at life will allow them to become better people.

Once they are back on Earth things appear to go well at first, but one by one the four friends fall back into their old ways. Michael returns to Earth in order to  get the gang all in the same place together and allow them to work together to become better people. One hitch is that his experiment drags in someone unexpected, Trevor (Adam Scott) to the group.

The Good Place airs Thursday Evenings on NBC.  Next week (October 4, 2018) Michael is forced to take drastic measures when his grand scheme hits a snag.

South Park Season 22 Opens with a Bang!

There is always something going on in the small Colorado mountain town of South Park and season 22 is no exception. The season opener tackles the ever so common school shootings in the United States and turns it up to eleven. The children on South Park elementary have just received their math test scores back and Eric Cartman is upset when his score is a failure. While the drama plays out between Cartman and Token, whom he normally cheats off of, the school suffers a tragic shooting as the American Gun Culture is put on the spotlight. The children and most of the town are unphased as are most of the town by the events, but Stan’s mother Sharon is overcome by the news.

It’s another fantastic episode of South Park and Trey Parker and Matt Stone deliver a classic episode. I particularly enjoyed how they dressed Eric Cartman up as Marvel’s Jessica Jones throughout the episode as he tries to get to the bottom of everything.

Grade A entertainment and a big thumbs up from Mr. Reactionary!

What TV Shows Do Republicans and Democrats Rate The Highest?

In a recent analysis, E-Score® identified the top 10 favorite programs among folks who identify themselves as Democrats or Republicans.

General Findings

Democrats – Prefer programs that are sexy, edgy, emotionally involving, ethnically diverse or have strong characters. These shows may be more attractive to supporters of Clinton.

Republicans – Prefer programs that are family-friendly, funny, plot driven or have storylines that involve “good vs. evil.” These shows may be more appealing to supporters of Trump.

Family Friendly vs. Sexy | Funny vs. Emotionally Involving

Republicans prefer broadcast programs that are safer for families and more likely to be described as “Family Friendly” and “Funny” while Democrats prefer edgier programming and describe their favorite shows as “Sexy” and “Emotionally Involving.” The top 3 favorite shows described as “Sexy” by Democrats were Game of Thrones, The Haves and the Have Nots, and Suits. By contrast, half of the top 10 shows on the Republican list had more than 25% of respondents describing the shows as “Family Friendly” and air on broadcast television.

Ethnically Diverse

On the Democrats’ list, 3 of the top 10 shows: The Haves and the Have Nots on OWN, How to Get Away with Murder on ABC, and Empire on FOX all have a racially diverse cast and have powerful lead roles for women. This reflects the Democratic viewer who is also typically more diverse, with higher concentration of black and female supporters.

Good vs. Evil

Republicans enjoy clearer “good vs. evil” characters and storylines compared to the Democrats’ favorites. Republicans prefer shows featuring superheroes like The Flash, Arrow and the super intelligent team on Scorpion. Two procedural programs such as NCIS and Blue Bloods also have the “good vs. evil” component, as well as skewing slightly older than some other programs in the list.
